Very odd smell, maybe a bit of tobacco with a whiff of old tramp. Fortunately the taste is way better. Soft, warm and inviting, like an enormous quilt on a cold night (or, for the antipodeans, a well groomed sheep). Hints of marmite and dark fruits. Much more robust, and able to take care of itself, than the average South African Merlot.
