Smells like the sea air. Tastes like lemongrass and vanilla, which is code for “I’m unable to verbalise what I can taste and smell”. Maybe I’m all chenined out or feeling flat thanks to endless covid-induced blues, but I remembered this as blowing my hair back a little more.
Jason’s Hill Chenin Blanc 2019
Jason’s Hill is an awesome winery. Their wine is awesome. The 2016 Chenin is fantastic. Apparently the 2019 was a bit of an experiment. The fact it was part of a special suggests that maybe the experiment wasn’t as successful as hoped. Maybe I’m lashing out because I’m sick of lockdown. Go to Jason’s Hill […]
Jason’s Hill Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
More medals than Zinedine Zidane, and far less likely to headbutt you if you ask after its sister. This bottle was purchased during happier times and the taste is as good as the memories.
Jasons Hill Cabernet Sauvignon 2008
This wine is everything I’m not: soft, smooth, aged well over the last five years and tastes of berries and silk. I’m a big fan of this winery so an extra mark just for being from there.
Jason’s Hill Shiraz 2007
Smoky fruit flavours. Goes perfectly with a steak. Would probably get an extra mark if I hadn’t drunk so much already and ruined my tastebuds.
Jason’s Hill Merlot 2007
licking the inside of a wooden box that used to have cherries and cinnamon stored in it. Merlot that’s seem some things.
Jason’s Hill Pinotage 2007
Leather and berries (a bondage loving wino’s favourite!). A little disappointing for a Micheal Angelo silver medal winner, but nice to taste a pinotage that doesnt taste of coffee or bananas.
Jason’s Hill Viognier 2009
Tastes of apricots. Nice on its own. Not too acidic, bit of body.
